Pick Me Up…

So today is a Way Back Wednesday today as in addition to going to the hand surgeon next Wednesday (limited cooking) I once again took a slap shot to the ankle on New Year’s Day. :) My Orthopedic loves me. Good news is that while it was the same ankle and hurts a whole bunch I’m like 93.674% sure it’s not fractured this time. It does however hurt to stand on (so again with the limited cooking). I am avoiding the gym for the next couple weeks anyway until it weeds out again so this is just helping me. :P Despite all that 2013 has actually started off rather well. I don’t really remember how 2012 started off but it really does seem like 2013 started off better. As tradition I don’t like to list all the things I’m going to accomplish in 2013 because come 2014 I come back and read this and then just get depressed learning that I didn’t organize my house like I thought I was going to…and then all my pinning would have gone to waste. Counting your pina coladas before they hatch…

Several people keep asking me what I have bought with the prize money and are sad to hear the answer of nothing. “Nothing? That’s no fun”. I explain to them that I didn’t have the check yet and therefore there was no reason to go buy anything yet, if at all. “Oh but you are going to get the money so just put it on credit card?” Because again, until a check is in my hand and cleared through the bank I don’t even have it. I won a food photography contest way back at the end of July. They contacted me and told me I won. And had me fill out paperwork, get it notarized and back to them. Had me give a picture and write a little paragraph. Told me great, you should get your prize in 7-10 days. It’s going on mid-September now without my prize in site. Now that is not to say this will be the case with BHG/Triscuit as they have been nothing but a dream to work with. I’m just saying I don’t have it yet. Sugar!!!!!!

It is the ultimate sugar holiday coming up. And as a love of all things sugar, I'm highlighting...sugar! Domino sugar to be exact. While looking through their website last week I noticed Elegant Tiramisu Cookies. Otherwise known as, cookies that had mascarpone cheese in them. We all know how that I have an unnatural love for mascarpone cheese, so I was all over these! And they did not disappoint. I really love just the cookies themselves and don't think that you have to go the extra mile if you don't want and make them into sandwiches. But of course, if you do, whenever you are adding more mascarpone cheese to anything, you are by definition making it better. ;) There was a chocolate layer that I skipped (I know, clearly there is something wrong with me...oh yeah, I'm lazy) and I went with just sprinkling powdered sugar and cocoa powder on the filling instead.
